2-3         The Saint (5:13)
2-4         Never Tell The Widow (6:35)

Diary of Dreams is a unique band in that they fuse various genres/styles into their music. Elements of Gothic Rock, Synth Pop, EBM, Industrial, Ambient, and even Classical can be heard in varying degrees in their songs from various albums. Their innovative approach to music making is also accompanied by beautiful, thought-provoking lyrics. On average, their albums are always of high quality compared to most other bands in the Goth scene.  This is the band that almost single-handedly redefines what the term Darkwave means. Of course, the term itself means different things to different people. However, these days when a new band's music is categorized as Darkwave, many (if not most) people who are into the scene will associate it with their music. Theirs is what modern-day Darkwave is all about. Many artists try to copy their style but most fail to achieve their quality and style.

Unlike DoD's previous album Nekrolog 43, this album is not a concept album. After listening to it, I can see why. This album is less electronic or experimental than the previous one. It can be said as more Gothic Rock or some might say 'more mainstream' - in the Goth sense of course. The electronics is noticeably less prominent. In Nekrolog 43 there are some songs that can be categorized as Industrial due to the use of the genre's elements/styles. On the other hand, none of the songs in this new album can be categorized as Industrial or even electronic. The overall quality is still good although not as good as the previous 2 albums. At the end of the day, this album is still better than most Gothic Rock albums released these days. The first song, The Wedding, is my fave out of this release.

Cenotype : Origins Unfold [2009]

Existing somewhere in that undefined region of sound known as
industrial music, Cenotype is the personal expression of a
single individual known as Leonard Bogatch. Also known as Lenny
B or DJ Wintermute, Lenny is a long-standing member of the
NYC/New Jersey-area industrial scene. Raised in the poisonous
sprawl of depressed cities such as Bayonne and Jersey City,
Lenny cut his teeth as a dancefloor DJ at several venues around
the region, and was inspired by acts such as SPK, Klinik, Skinny
Puppy, Dive, Synapscape and Psychic TV to create his own
project.
Influenced by the first and second 'power noise' waves of the
mid-late 1990s, Cenotype now seeks to rise above the growing
mass of imitators spawned by that movement to create an identity
all its own, incorporating elements of death industrial and
power electronics while staying true to his origins.
With the 2007 debut full length CD release, Origins (Hive
Records) receiving positive reactions all over the world, and
performances alongside some of the industrial scene's most
respected artists, Cenotype was established as a force to be
reckoned with.
The recent addition of talented electronic musician Clive
Reinhold means Cenotype is now evolving into a two-man project
both live and in the studio, currently preparing to unleash a
second full length album some time later in 2009.
In preparation for the next phase of his musical career, Lenny
has formally unveiled his Origins Productions imprint, and has
produced the label's first official release in collaboration
with Lee Bartow (AKA Leech) of Navicon Torture Technologies.
This very special release will be available in a limited edition
of 250 numbered copies. A black-on-black CDR collecting 15
amazing remixes, and a 3inch CDR featuring an extended remix by
Navicon Torture Technologies, are packaged together in a
hand-assembled chipboard CD case, stamped with the Cenotype /
Origins logo.

10  Unearthed (5:12)

The sound on Origins is twofold, with dark ambience, such as you can hear in the ten-minute long dark ambient track ‘Sinking’, as well as with technoid industrial beats, but these two sides do form a coherent nicely blended whole. On the one hand the music grabs back to the early Ant-Zen sound, think Imminent Starvation with regards to atmosphere and on the other hand you’ll hear the typical US rhythmic industrial, with merciless loud gabber related beats such as we know of for example Terrorfakt or Prometheus Burning. This rhythmic side seems to be influenced by the works of Dirk Iven’s Sonar as well.

Sistrenatus : Sensitive Disturbance [2009]

1. Disrepair
2. Frequency Contamination
3. Rusted Earth
4. Echoes From The Past
5. Slow-Wave
6. Lost Transmission
7. Forgotten

Blurring the lines between Dark Ambient, Industrial and Noise, Sistrenatus storms forth, shifting between oppressive aggression and unsettling atmospheres. "Sensitive Disturbance" is the third offering from this now legendary Canadian act, whose debut "Division One" was issued on Cold Spring in 2007. An aural journey through the urban decay of abandoned factories, scorched landscapes and underground passageways. "Sensitive Disturbance" is an abrasive rendition of the industrial revolution in its darkest phases.

Welcoming the return of Peter Andersson (Raison D'etre, Necrophorous) and Tobias Larsson (Ocean Chief), Existence Establishment and Reverse Alignment present "This is My Own Hell" with over
an hour's worth of the darkest, bleakest industrial soundscapes these artists have delivered. Spanning minimalist dark ambience to doomed industrial passages Stratvm Terror portrays an absolutely hopeless atmosphere of pure desolation. With artwork featuring the paintings of Mia Mäkilä, "This is My Own Hell" may just be your own pleasure.

Manufactura : Psychogenic Fugue + A Damaged Symphony For Depraved Dementia N.2 [2008]

...this is in some ways indeed the most accessible release from Manufactura. But it is no less dark, probably darker even. Because of the more ‘accessible’ nature, this means it can be somewhat inaccessible for the powernoise only enthusiast. But Manufactura was never about powernoise only. The only part of that genre-title is the word ‘power’ that applies to all his albums, be it a powerful dance track or a powerful emotion in a quieter track.

This also bring that I really want to write something about the tracks, but as most Manufactura albums, this kind of ruins the element of surprise. Since one of the trademarks on Manufactura is diversity; with every track you don’t know which way it is heading towards. And even within the songs there are a lot of times sudden changesI do have favorites, but the album really works as a whole, so you’ll be listening from beginning to end every time. So take my word for it, if you like Manufactura, this release you must have. And if you never heard of Manufactura before, this is also a good place to start.

After careful psychological observeration of test listeners, Simon Heath has done it again - renewing the genre through careful planning and painstaking attention to each fragment and detail, however minute. With fresh atmospheres, and a depth previously unfathomable, Souyuan will amaze initiates and pundits alike with its complexity and pureness of form. Never before has the artists innermost recesses been so sublimely conveyed to any medium.

Satori : Contemptus Mundi [2008]

1. Contemptus Mundi
2. Contemptus Mundi (Nameless Wrath Mix)

The slow evolving sound grows stronger and is covering you like warm blanket as you sink away in the occult atmosphere with deep cavernous drones and obscure distant noises. 02. Nocturnal Fury
03. Unseen Force

CD version of the 2007 album from UK Dark Ambient / Fortean Electronics act Satori - Neil Chaney (Pessary) and Justin Mitchell (Cold Spring boss), originally issued on LP by Dogma Chase, Japan. "Kanashibari" is the Japanese term for sleep paralysis (literally "bound or fastened in metal"). The album explores this phenomena, manipulating Fortean sounds and deep dark ambience. CD version contains a bonus track 'Pavor Nocturnus', not available on the LP version.

2-3    Cicad Played Under The Arch (20:17)
2-4    Camouflambience (5.1 Remix) (4:42)

The elemental excitement for each new Merzbow album remains intact among us here and, after four long years, the undisputable master returns to Essence Music with a new installment of his unique brand of harsh psychedelic noise assault.
A bit distant from Sha Mo 3000’s pulsing, often rhythmic strategies or the recent albums featuring freestyle drums by Masami Akita himself, Camouflage plays by the more straight MERZBOW rules, going back to his comfort zone of audio barbarism.
We salute the ferocious torrents of abused, imploding and exploding electronics, the sharp, pulverizing and abrasive high frequencies and the unrelenting punishment of frenzied throbbing machine-screams witnessed in the controlled cacophonic environment of Camouflage!

12 Domination (Terrorfakt Remix) (4:30)
13 Plastic Domination (Perfection Plastic Remix) (4:25)
14 Minaire (Andraculoid Remix) (4:41)

Another impressive piece of work by Pneumatic Detach. Their album "vis.cer.a" was one of the best of 2005 in its genre, and the double-DVD "e.vis.cer.ate" made quite an impression as well. To milk the cow a bit more, the remix-album "re.vis.cer.a" is released now. On Hive rex as always, the album demonstrates material from the mentioned album, remixed by several artists in the powernoise/IDM/breakcore genre. Again, harsh beats are accompanied by danceable layers of electronics, varying from IDM to breakcore, but always keeping the very typical PD-rhythms intact.
